Last week Twitter released its own app for sharing videos, allowing its 500 million strong user base to share 6-second video clips with their fans and followers.
The main question posed since the release is ‘why 6 seconds?’ Vine co-founder, Dom Hofmann has provided the answer in the following statement:
“Posts on Vine are about abbreviation – the shortened form of something larger. They’re little windows into the people, settings, ideas and objects that make up your life. They’re quirky, and we think that’s part of what makes them so special.”
The app, which is currently only available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch (they are going to work to bring Vine to other platforms in due course), is free to install and links directly to your Twitter account.
It’s very early doors at the moment, and many are just starting to experiment so it will certainly be interesting to see how businesses use this to their advantage moving forwards. Today, however, I thought I’d share a few examples that we’ve seen from other companies since last weeks release of the Vine application.
